Getting To Know Our Differences Since Now And Then

Report Card Used To BeVital For Students' Future
First of all, Happy Independence Day to all Malaysians. Our country has officially independent for 55 years. Now and then, there are just too many changes that happen in our beloved country Malaysia and the changes happened just in the blink of an eye, they are so fast especially in education field. The things that will be exposed in my blog are about educational standards today versus those of years ago. The world continues to change so education must change as society evolves.

Way back then, report cards were totally different from what they are today. First of all, you had to earn your grade. There was no such thing as called as co-curriculum which is declared as so important in the education today. To get a better opportunity and best position or occupation in future, most students strive academically rather than practically as the best academic achiever in old days will always success in their life and lead a better living in the future. However, education that we have now concentrated on both academic and practical and the most important is extra co-curriculum activity to rise on our percentage as a student in this era.

New Era Parents Choose Kindergarten Than Home

For practical purposes, the students were partially home schooled before home schooling existed as an industry in old days. However in our modern society, education can be gained through kindergarten and child care services for the fresh starter in getting knowledge. This is why most of the elder generation owned several general skills and technical skills without joining any paid academies as they learned those things through experiences. Obviously, new generations having difficulties in facing on the spot problems and too depending on others without even trying to solve the problems as they never learned to do skilful based activities before and just concentrated in school studies which be claimed as the most important thing in this era.

Worst of all is attitude. Yesterday’s student was willing to work but today’s student is not. Past students thought of education as a privilege, however our current students in Malaysia view it as an entitlement. Furthermore, earlier students will always take responsibility for their mistakes compared to contemporary students who will depend on their parents or friends. Previously, it was honourable enough to obtain a B and at least acceptable to receive a C, especially with the harder classes. Nowadays, students want at least a B for signing up for class and they can get an A without much hard work as the syllabus getting easier in time.

55 Year Changed Everything

In the nutshell, our education style from the traditional type until this modern style are both having their own positives sides  and not to forget the consequences. Even the styles are different from the old era and new era, knowledge is still a crucial matter in everyone’s life forever.
